Vacancy: Financial Controller

Position Overview: As a Financial Controller in the hospitality industry you will oversee all aspects of the hotel’s financial management, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management & Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, variance analysis, and commentaries.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to hotel management and corporate offices.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop realistic and achievable budgets.
- Prepare and present financial forecasts, adjusting projections based on actual performance and market conditions.
- Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the hotel’s assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including tax filings and other statutory requirements.
- Coordinate and manage internal and external audits.
- Cash & Asset Management:
- Manage the hotel’s cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs.
- Oversee the management of assets, ensuring proper accounting and reporting of fixed assets, inventories, and liabilities.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing training to ensure the team’s effectiveness.
- Strategic Financial Planning:
- Collaborate with the General Manager and other senior management to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions and long-term planning.
- Cost Control & Efficiency:
- Identify opportunities to optimize costs and enhance revenue generation.
- Review and approve major expenditures, ensuring alignment with budget and financial goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in financial management, with at least 2 years in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems; experience with hotel management software (e.g., Opera, Micros) is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
- High level of integrity, with a strong commitment to ethical conduct.
