Job Title: Payroll Supervisor
Location: Bucharest, Romania
Starting date: October 2024
Position Overview:
The Payroll Supervisor position is responsible for ensuring that employees’ wages are paid correctly and on time; and that the correct amount of tax is deducted from employees’ wages and remitted on or before the deadline. This position ensures that all the statutory reports and requirements surrounding payroll are completed and submitted to the relevant authorities and that proper records of all payroll related activities are maintained, including the reconciliation of the relevant balance sheet accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain the payroll system
- Prepares timely review and sign off on all required payroll and tax reconciliations
- Ensures compliance with applicable national and local, tax and regulatory reporting requirements and guidelines
- Ensures reports are accurate and disbursed in a timely manner.
- Remains current on new legislation and regulatory ruling impacting payroll. Enforce adherence to requirements and advise management on required actions
- Evaluate and analyses existing payroll policies, procedures and business processes in collaboration with Director HR Systems and Payroll.
- Prepares, calculates and process quarterly profit sharing payments. To process all management incentive bonuses, and salary deferrals
- Keeps abreast of newest trends and innovations in the hospitality industry.
- Generally being alert for opportunities to improve the profitability of the department i.e. through controlling wastage and being responsible for the economy of all utilities and resources.
- In addition to the payroll-related duties, performs also General Cashier’s duties:
- Takes a proactive approach to Accounting activity, anticipating potential opportunities.
- Maintains effective communication within the department and ensure that the Financial Controller is kept well informed of any problems/queries that have arisen.
- Reports any problems/complaints to the Financial Controller
- Attends any department training sessions and/or meetings required.
- Liaises with other departments to ensure good communication and offer support.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years in similar capacity, ideally in a hotel environment; familiar with hotel accounting and operation
- Ability to manage a high number of operational employees on payroll, with knowledge of associated controls and procedures.
- Demonstrate management of a high-volume cash handling, with knowledge of associated controls and procedures.
- Experience with a Payroll system (dpPayroll, Charisma) is required. Knowledge of and experience with accounting software (preferably SUN Accounts).
- Extensive knowledge of Payroll processes and practices.
- Relevant degree and professional qualifications.
- Fluent in written & spoken English.
- Excellent spreadsheet and word processing skills (Microsoft Office)
- Communicate clearly and concisely
- Analytical and have the drive to initiate new ideas or plans
- Strong and confident personality coupled with the ability to work as part of a team
- An organized and methodical approach
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Very good to excellent ability to interpret and report financial information
- Good time management for meeting strict deadlines
